MORCOM ACQUIRES ALDEN.COM, Chantilly June 15, 2001
Morcom International, Inc. has completed the acquisition of the domain name ALDEN.COM which was formerly owned by Alden Electronics, Inc. of Westborough, Massachusetts. Established in 1946, Alden was for many years a major player in the area of research, design, and production of advanced weather systems.
Morcom is a supplier of communications and weather equipment. Asked about the reasons of the acquisition and the long-term vision of the company, Mr. Manuel A. Ojeda president of Morcom said "Our firm has always been a well known supplier of advanced weather systems. Our long term goal is to establish Morcom as an innovator in the field of meteorological applications of images and data transmitted to the user via satellite and other advanced media. The acquisition is a way to reach out to and offer Alden's customers a high quality source for their requirements of high resolution image direct readout stations, WAFS/ISCS Systems, and other weather equipment needs.
In conjunction with this acquisition, Morcom has anounced the launching of its Alden Weather Systems division. This new operating entity will be devoted to technical research in seeking commercial applications for advanced software and hardware products within the field of weather forecasting and remote sensing. As such AWS (Alden Weather Systems) will seek alliances with researchers, and institutes of higher learning that are seeking commercial avenues for their products.
