| The CB-band is usually
allocated to the segment of 26.965-27.405 (most countries where CB is allowed) divided
into 40 channels. There are different restrictions as to which mode and power output to use. In most european countries, AM, FM and SSB were used until recently. The so called "freeband" is just about everything between 27.410 and 28.000, plus a 40 channel segment below 26.965. In these segments, many unlicensed individuals do their DX-ing, mainly on SSB. Of course the legal use of these segments is probably extremely low, and therefore all this "freebanding", or maybe it is the other way around? There are quite a number of CB radios manufactured with the possibility of extended frequency coverage.
