APPLE II COMPUTER

The Apple II+ was the successor to the Apple II.
It was fully compatible with the Apple II. It, however, had new features:
- a new ROM holding the AppleSoft Basic (floating point version written by Microsoft),
- a new auto-start (stored in ROM) for easier start-up and screen editing,
- 48 KB RAM,
- text modes were the same as the Apple II, but the graphics modes were enhanced, they're
the same as the Apple 2e : 16 colours at low resolution and 6 colours at high resolutions.
In fact this 6-colour mode was also available on the Apple II since revision 1 of the
motherboard. The Apple II+ was sold in Europe as the Apple IIeuroplus which could
display video in European PAL format, and had ESC sequences for European letters. It was
followed by the Apple 2e.

Bosnian (at the time part of communist Yugoslavia) company named IRIS Computers (subcompany of biggest electric company in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Yugoslavia ENERGOINVEST) has produced Apple II clones since the early '80s. Their official brandname was IRIS 8. They were very expensive and hard to obtain and were produced primarily for usage in early computerised digital telephone systems and for education. Their usage in offices of the state companies, R&D labs and in the Yugoslav army was also reported. IRIS 8 had looks of early IBM PCsseparate central unit with cooling system and two 5?" disks, monitor and keyboard. Compatibility with original Apple II was complete. Elite high schools in Yugoslavia and especially Bosnia and Herzegovina were equipped with clusters of 8, 16 or 32 IRIS 8 computers connected in local network administrated by IRIS 16 PC clone. The number of IRIS 8's produced could be as many as a couple of tens of thousands.

This board for IRIS 8 computer was
